Microsoft To Acquire Swiftkey

After 8 years of successfully becoming one of the free premiere alternate mobile keyboard apps, SwiftKey has announced that they will be joining the Microsoft family.  The wildly popular app, which has been downloaded over 10 million times and  is available for both Android and IOS was purchased for around $250 million.

The London based co-founders Jon Reynolds and Ben Medlock sent out a statement on their website expressing their move.  "We're excited to announce an important milestone on SwiftKey's journey.  As of today, we have agreed to join the Microsoft family.".

Only time will tell if this is something the consumer should be excited about, however pairing up with the empire in Microsoft should only bring more features I suppose. Good luck to them!
